It was 1922, and on Strednica in Ždiar, a technical marvel of its time was built – a wooden goods cableway known as the Šodronka. For decades, it connected our region, traversing the mountainous terrain, and became an integral part of life in the Tatras. Although it eventually fell silent, its spirit never left Ždiar. The original concrete bases of the pillars stood here for years as silent witnesses to a bygone era of glory.
And just here, our new story began to unfold. At Strachan Resort, we decided that such a legend deserved a second chance. We’ve decided to breathe new life into Šodronka, and we’re building a new complex for you right on its historic foundations. A place where the past meets the present, and where three unique experiences await you:
🏛️ Šodronka Experience Museum: This interactive and immersive museum will draw you right into the history of cableway engineering, as well as into the authentic way of life and rich Goral traditions in Ždiar.
🍽️ Šodronka Restaurant: Experience cuisine that combines traditional regional recipes with modern culinary artistry. Highlights include the historic Transporta lift right inside the restaurant, a stylish champagne bar and an iconic panoramic view of the Belianske Tatras.
🍞 Šodronka Bakery: The wonderful aroma of freshly baked sourdough bread, which we prepare for you every day right here on the premises.
What’s more, we also offer a full range of year-round facilities – a sports shop, a ski and e-bike rental service, and a shop selling local souvenirs.
